Experience

Jim has a long-standing interest in energy-efficiency and sustainable building design. He is a LEED Accredited Professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and served for many years as a director of the Northern California Solar Energy Association.

As a young mechanical engineer for San Francisco's H. K. Ferguson Company in the early 1980's, Jim helped design several major aerospace defense installations, including Rockwell's B-1 bomber assembly and test facility in Palmdale and Northrop's B-2 "Stealth" bomber research facility in Pico Rivera. Major manufacturing projects at Ferguson included a new semiconductor fabrication plant for National Semiconductor Corporation and new production facilities for Xerox and Frito-Lay.

Since starting his own firm in 1986, Jim has engineered a wide variety of educational, commercial and institutional projects (see "Our Projects") for many of northern California's premier architectural firms (see "Our Clients").
